Golf Simulator Projector Throw Ratio by Screen Size

The lens must produce the target image from a location that is outside the swing and avoids the golfer casting a disruptive shadow.

Safety/fit gate: dimensions here are planning prompts, not clearance certification. Perform controlled swing tests with every user and verify exact monitor, enclosure and projector requirements.

Use the throw-ratio equation

Throw distance equals image width multiplied by throw ratio. Use the manufacturer calculator for lens shift, zoom range and exact mounting limits.

Treat the table as geometry—not a projector recommendation

The arithmetic uses viewable image width, not enclosure outside width. The exact projector may measure throw from a specified lens reference point and may have zoom, offset or lens-shift constraints. Confirm the selected aspect ratio and image height too.

Plan the whole image

Match screen viewable area and software aspect ratio. A wider enclosure does not guarantee the projector can fill it without overspill or cropping.

  • Screen viewable width/height
  • Native projector aspect ratio
  • Mount-to-screen distance
  • Golfer and club shadow path
  • Cable/power route and service access
